Do you source your metals and stones from responsible suppliers?
Absolutely. As members of the Jewellery Council of South Africa, we adhere to their guidelines and only use reputable suppliers. To be a holder of a gold permit implies strict guidelines and extensive background checks.
Can we buy diamonds and gems from you?

Yes. We can also help you with the right information to make an informed choice.
Prices can fluctuate a lot depending on small details, but we will make sure you know
what you are buying so you get the best for your money.

What metals do you work with?

We work in all precious and semi-precious metals.
Platinum, Palladium, 18ct and 9ct gold (white, yellow, and red), Argentium, and Stirling silver.
We even use wood and resin in some of our jewellery.

Do you make jewellery for men?

Yes, we would even make jewellery for your pet. We do not judge.

What is the difference between 9ct and 18ct gold?

Fine gold or 24ct is too soft for most jewellery pieces so we add alloys to make the metal harder.
18ct is 75% fine gold and 25% alloys (e.g. silver, copper, and palladium) whereas 9ct is 37,5% fine
gold and 62.5% alloys. As such 18ct is the purist alloyed gold that is perfect for making jewellery
with. 9ct is a cheaper metal but with a lot less fine gold and a lot more alloys. You would assume that
as there’s less fine gold in 9ct that it would be a lot harder than 18ct, but the difference is very small.
It has more of an impact in manufacturing as 9ct is more brittle and more difficult to shape and solder.

How long will it take?

It takes about 3 weeks depending on the complexity of the piece and the availability of the stones. We try our best to get it to you asap but making something special, takes time. The result will be worth the wait. Being sure of your design and budget will speed up the process.

Do you evaluate jewellery?

Yes. We give an evaluation certificate for every commissioned piece of jewellery we make.
We can also do evaluations of existing pieces. In some cases where the client does not have
the diamond certificate we can get the diamond certified, but this will take time and increase
the cost of the evaluation.

Will I get a ring box with my order?

All our commissioned pieces come in a high-end jewellery box. Your piece will be kept save and ready
for you to propose or as a gift.

Do you size rings?

Yes. It’s always better to get the size right from the start but we know that it’s not always possible.
Some sizings are more complicated as some stones can’t take any heat and have to be taken out before sizing.
We will always inform our clients in this case so there won’t be any surprises.

Sizing a ring that we did not make, can be difficult as we do not know what solder was used or if they used the
same alloys. In cases like this, we normally ask that our clients take it to the shop they bought it from for sizing.
If this is not possible we can do the sizing but the client must assume the risk involved which we will inform them of.

Do you make custom pieces?

Absolutely. This is our specialty. We love to design with our client’s input over coffee. We take pride in listening to what our clients want and we will help them make informed choices.

How do I find my ring size?

We can do it for you. If however, distance is a problem, we suggest getting an accurate ring size by visiting a local jeweller and having them measure it for you.

Do you do engraving?

We outsource our engraving but we offer hand engraving and laser engraving.

Do you repair jewellery?

We will gladly repair any item of jewellery purchased from us.
It is normally free, depending on the damage.

How do I care for my jewellery?

Our pieces are quite strong, but like all jewellery they need to be handled with a certain amount of care.

If we made the piece and it is made of Gold, Platinum, or Palladium there is one less thing to worry about as we use metal that does not require plating. Small scratches and dirt take away the shine which is not what you want. Most dirt can be dealt with by using some warm water and a toothbrush taking care not to brush too hard especially over the stones. Stay away from chemicals. A polishing cloth can also help bring some shine back.

Silver jewellery tarnishes quite easily. The best way to avoid tarnishing is to wear your jewellery . The rubbing against your skin keeps the metal nice and shiny. When you are not wearing them, store them separately in a box. To remove tarnish from silver use a rouge polish cloth.

It’s a good idea to get your jewellery professionally cleaned and polished once in a while to get the buildup under stones and small scratches removed. We normally do the first cleaning and polishing (after purchase) for free.

Do you buy old gold and jewellery?

Yes. It’s a great way for you to get money from something you don’t use anymore. You could also use it as a credit on a new piece.
